The Big Issue : Edition 447
18 THEBIGISSUE6--25DEC2013 I thank all my valuable customers for your ongoing support. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I hope to see you back and well in 2014. 'Muddy', Melbourne. My partner and I enjoy selling TBI at Geelong Market Square. Sometimes just a smile or a joke from a regular customer helps take our mind of our disabilities. We appreciate all the support we get. Keep an eye out for us wearing elf hats this holiday season, as it's our way to say thanks for helping brighten our day. Ray J and Deborah S, Geelong. Sometimes the street surprised me a lot this year. I hope all my customers (and everyone else) has a good Christmas and New Year. To anyone who was cheesed of by some of my antics, I do apologise. Sometime I will make amends. I hope your Christmas present is a Mercedes Benz. Conrad, Richmond. Firstly, thank you to Graeme Wise for bringing The Big Issue to Australia. Secondly, to my customers: your support has helped me and my girlfriend. Daryl, University of Melbourne. I like all my customers. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Willy, Melbourne. We have achieved a lot in the last year. Merry Christmas to everyone. Vendors have a job to do as well as keeping people happy around the world. We all have fun playing soccer and having barbecues. We all take care of each other. Merry Christmas! Darren F, Melbourne. I'd like to wish all my customers and friends a very happy Christmas. Remember how special Christmas really is when our loved ones and friends are still here to celebrate -- or no longer with us and deeply missed. Be grateful for what you have. Just smile and be happy, everyone! Carol L, Prahran Market. WESTERN AUSTRALIA I am doing well at my new pitch. Thanks to everyone supporting me there, and to my old customers on St Georges Tce. It's been a tremendous experience working with you all. Merry Christmas. John, Perth (on cover). You can fnd me standing on the street selling most days. The money I've earned has helped me buy some good things like a new bag and a tablet, which I saved up for. Little bits here and there make life easier. The Big Issue has taught me a lot about keeping some money aside for the next day. Thank you and Merry Christmas to my generous customers. Rob, Perth. When I first started selling TBI I went out and stood on my first pitch at The Esplanade. I sold not one magazine. On the second day, I sold one. On the third day I changed my approach and started saying "Good morning, have a nice day!" to passers- by. Suddenly smiles and sales came. Over three years down the track, I am still working hard, trying to sell mags. Smiles are free, and contagious! Merry Christmas to everyone. Frank, Perth. I went recently to Perth Central for the Christmas photo shoot. Afterwards, I remembered I didn't have a train fare back to my pitch in Claremont, so I simply sold a magazine. I was reminded how The Big Issue helps me pick up the pieces and carry on. To all my friends, thank you for supporting my little business. It defnitely sees me through rough times. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Henry, Claremont. Happy Christmas to all the people who buy TBI in Busselton. Season's Greetings -- and please take care on the roads! Catch you in the New Year. Brett, Busselton. I started with TBI six years ago. This year, I moved to my current 'home', selling in Leederville. I saw heaps of marvellous concerts this year including Pink and Rihanna. I'm a bit of a local celebrity; I have a few fans here and there. All sorts of people are generous enough to buy the magazine from me. They show they have a lot of heart, morale and dignity. Merry Christmas to all. Dave, Leederville. Thank you to my customers for showing me such kindness with the depression I've gone through in the past year. Once again you've showed me that people care. I'm able to live now. The confidence I've gained meeting people has helped to put me in stable accommodation. You have all helped me pull through hard times, so thank you very much. And Merry Christmas, always.
