GETTING TO KNOW YOU Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and Iam20yearsofage.Iwasbornin Sydney and moved to Adelaide when I was two years old. Before starting at The Big Issue, I was working at the Salvos in the city. I started selling The Big Issue in October last year. During my time with The Big Issue, I have enjoyed meeting new people and selling the magazines. I am still learning how to give the right change to customers. Some days are slow, but other days can be fast. The least I have sold is three and the most, nine. I hope you all have enjoyed reading my ‘Streetsheet’ contribution. Amanda sells The Big Issue outside David Jones, Adelaide. BACK IN SYDNEY I came from South Australia to Sydney to sell Big Issues. I picked fruit in SA, but the season finished. So I came back to Sydney. Every day, I sell 60 magazines. Just by asking many people. (I came back, regular customers!) I display many different- language Big Issues, which are bought by regular customers. It is a very useful way to sell and get attention. Adam R sells The Big Issue in York and Market Sts, Sydney. MANY THANKS I would like to thank the Potts Point community for embracing me in my endeavours to live more comfortably. A special hello to Dr Allard, whose support means so much to me. Although our fearless leader Sue [The Big Issue’s former NSW operations manager] has left – we will miss her. I have also started doing shifts packing magazines for the Women’s Subscription Enterprise, where there are some nice ladies whom I work with. Pamela sells The Big Issue at Maroubra Junction, Sydney.
