And it is not only us; we see others waving to him from across the street, chatting with him or sharing a good laugh. Over the past few years, Greg has always been positive and he puts a smile on our faces every day. Even if your day has not been so good, you can’t help but smile when you see him. We love hearing about what he has been up to, how is he going, what movies he has watched, what team he thinks is going to win the football. Last year, to cheer on Queensland for State of Origin, he attempted to dye his beard maroon. But instead it turned out pink. You can imagine the explaining he had to do to everyone. Even if Greg doesn’t get to have a ‘Vendor Profile’, we still want to say thanks. We truly appreciate everything that he does and wish him nothing but good health, love and happiness. Louise, Helen, Jane and Rachel; Brisbane, Qld PS. Just for you, Greg...GO THE MIGHTY MAROONS! Greg has been in mourning following the Maroons’ loss in game one of this year’s State of Origin series. We’ve passed on your message and suggested the possibility of a future ‘Vendor Profile’. Hopefully this will cheer him up – Ed. I would like to congratulate Todd Chesterman on his Ed#456 article, ‘Situation Wanted’, describing what it’s like to be unemployed. This needs to be reprinted in the daily newspapers so that everyone has an opportunity to read it! Brilliantly expressed, articulate, real, heartfelt. I wish you well, Todd. Thank you for your article, as I now understand your situation and that of many others much more vividly. While you sound tired of your situation, you also sound THIS CHARMING MAN Yesterday there was a gentleman selling The Big Issue at The Strand on Pakington Street in Geelong West. In front of him was a sign, which read: “I am deaf”. His charm by way of genuine smiles and friendly gestures to all passers-by showed his amazing ability to encourage us all to feel happy. Thanks! Your ability to show friendship is enormous. Grace Mac Neill-Wallis, Leopold, Vic Grace wins a copy of The Moth... (See our review on p41.) FACEBOOK FRIENDS Zoë Velonis Just read Ricky French’s column [‘Autumn on Auto’] in Ed#458 (I’m a little behind) and just wanted to say well done! Lovely descriptions of my favourite season. And, while I’m praising your columns, the one on MONA [Ed#454 ‘Moan, Moan, MONA’] cracked me up. Kanchan Mool I just had a lovely conversation with a Sydney vendor near Wynyard Station. We talked about his passion for photography and travel. It was wonderful to see such a positive, determined attitude towards life. And it’s nice to read a magazine that has more articles than ads for a change. like a resilient soul who has a way of expressing what many are feeling. Please keep writing. I hope to see more of your work in the future. Maralyn Foureur, Broadway, NSW Thanks, Maralyn. We’ve passed your feedback on to Todd. His story is now up on our website, too.
